A small theme park in the hot spring town of Yufuin, modelled on a village in England's Cotswolds, with an owl café and gift shops set among flower gardens.

An English village in Yufuin

Yufuin Floral Village is a mini theme park in Yufuin Onsen (hot spring town) in Yufu city, Oita Prefecture. It recreates the streets of England's Cotswolds (a peaceful countryside area lined with stone cottages), with a cluster of little houses containing souvenir and gift shops.

The grounds are laid out like an English garden, with different flowers blooming each season. It has a rather different feel from a traditional Japanese hot spring town.

The owl forest and character shops

At OWL'S FOREST you can meet a number of owls, including snowy owls. There is also a photo experience where you hold an owl on your hand, and you can even wear a wizard-style robe for your photos.

There is also a cat café themed on the Cheshire Cat from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and shops selling Moomin goods, Peter Rabbit goods, Pokémon goods and more.

You can stay here too

Within the grounds is Yufuin Floral Village Hotel, an inn with Japanese-style rooms. Guests can use the hotel's hot spring baths, and can take photos in the quiet grounds before the park opens.

Getting there

It is about 15 minutes on foot or about 5 minutes by taxi from JR Yufuin Station. By car it is about 5 minutes from the Yufuin Interchange. Check the official website for opening hours and the prices of experiences.
